How to Create Your Own Mantra for a Walking Meditation

April 25, 2011

Do you like walking? Studies show that just walking can be very beneficial for your health. But you need to do it consistently without any excuses for rainy or cold weather, mood swings and a busy schedule. You can also try a walking meditation to enjoy your walk.walking meditation by natural photography spa

1. Find a sidewalk, or a park where you can observe some flowers, birds, insects or small animals to help you distract from your worries, refocus and relax.

2. Another way of doing a walking meditation is to pick the mantra – a sound, syllable, word, or group of words that is considered capable of “creating transformationfor you to repeat during your walk. You can use it for a brisk walk, every time you need an instant mood and self-confidence booster.

If you inhale on a count of two and exhale on a count of two, this mantra will be perfect for you:

I love myself for all I am

If you breathe in on  a count of four and breathe out on a count four, you might want to try another walking mantra and use it also as a self –love exercise:

Inhale on a count of 4:

I love my body

Exhale on a count of 4:

I love my hands

………………………………………..

Inhale on a count of 4:

I am happy

Exhale on a count of 4:

I feel fabulous

You can come up with all kind of affirmations and self-love quotes  to help you feel happier and enjoy your walk.

Breathe, smile and be happy.

    Hi Irina,
I had to tell you that when I saw this post, I had to share it with my co-facilitator of our Survive and Thrive Breast Cancer Group. We will be doing just this thing next month… hosting a Getting Back to Nature-Nature Walk for our Survive and Thrive members!!
The goal for this walk (at a beautiful nature sanctuary!) is to do just this-get back to nature, learning about (and appreciating) the beautiful wild flowers, decompress, meditation, and to welcome the Spring!

    Thanks Irina :)
    Big ((HUGS)) to you!
    Suzzann~
